So I have come up with some design inspirations and I am looking at the house in a new light. I love Chris Cassen Madden's book, A Room of Her Own. I have always been inspired by it. In her book, she showcases women in their personal spaces/retreats. The book really emphasize the need for women to have their own space, and to take the time to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of the everydays...we all know what it's about don't we?Here's my little list...
1. comfort & joy
I want to create a small corner in my bedroom or a little corner for relaxation. I am imagining the Moroccan feel of the soft plush pillows...
2. kitchen warmth
I want a unique space in the kitchen where I can sit by the window...
3. books
Did I ever tell you that I asked baba to help me build a library as my mahr? Yep, I did. I'm still inspired and inlove with books, so we are closer to this dream than ever before. This space will be MY space, where I can sit and relax with my books.
4. basic dining
I want a dining area where the kids don't have to feel that they can't move around YET when we have guests we can change it up and make it formal.
5. islam
One of the things that is very important to me is to create an Islamic space in the house that we can all reflect in. Obviously the home is an Islamic one, with an Islamic atmosphere, but I want to create a space where we can sit comfortably, and read the Quran and even pray, or speak together.
6. oasis
What do you think of fountains? I am thinking of something beautiful and extraordinary for the backyard.
